FretWolf

Terms of Use

Effective date: October 18, 2026

These terms describe permitted use of FretWolf.com and its tools, code, artwork, and written content. "FretWolf," "we," and "us" refer to the operator of FretWolf.com, based in Florida, United States. FretWolf is the site's brand name; this notice does not represent that it is a registered company or registered trademark. Contact: info@fretwolf.com.

Please read these terms before using the site. Our permission to use protected site materials is limited as described below. These terms do not restrict rights that applicable law gives you independently of our permission. To the extent a provision requires contractual acceptance, its enforceability depends on applicable law and valid agreement; this notice does not override mandatory legal rights.

Ownership and reservation of rights

Copyright © 2026 FretWolf. All rights reserved in protectable original material, except as expressly permitted here or by an applicable third-party license. Rights in the site's original code, text, artwork, design, and protectable selection or arrangement of content are reserved by their respective rights holders. Making files available to your browser does not grant an open-source license or transfer ownership.

We do not claim exclusive rights in musical facts, note names, scale formulas, common chord shapes, public-domain material, or elements that are not legally protectable. The FretWolf name, logo, and other source identifiers may be protected by applicable trademark law; no trademark license or endorsement is granted. Third-party names and marks belong to their respective owners.

Permitted practice and teaching

You may access and run the tools through this website for personal practice, learning, and teaching, including paid music lessons. You may link to our pages and display the site during lessons. You may make reasonable screenshots or printed excerpts of diagrams and explanations for your own study or for students you directly teach, including in a private class space, provided that available attribution and copyright notices are retained and FretWolf.com is credited.

This permission does not authorize republishing a library of our diagrams or explanations, reselling our content, distributing the site's source files, embedding the tools in another service, or using our branding to suggest endorsement. Requests for broader publication, integration, redistribution, or commercial licensing should be sent to info@fretwolf.com. Permissions not expressly granted are reserved, subject to applicable law and third-party licenses.

Restrictions on protected material and site use

Except as permitted above, by written authorization, by applicable law (including fair use), or by an applicable third-party license, you may not:

Ordinary browser caching and copies technically necessary for authorized use are permitted. Standard search-engine indexing and linking are permitted, subject to any access instructions we publish. Viewing source code does not itself grant permission to reuse protected code, but nothing here prohibits inspection or other activities protected by law.

Third-party software and licenses

Third-party components remain subject to their own licenses, which control over conflicting restrictions in these terms for those components. The circle of fifths uses the Bravura notation font, copyrighted by Steinberg Media Technologies GmbH and licensed under the SIL Open Font License 1.1. That license and its permissions remain intact. No exclusive ownership of third-party components is claimed.

Your audio and other material

You retain whatever rights you have in recordings and files you use or create with the tools. We do not claim ownership of your performances or require a content license merely because you use the site. You are responsible for obtaining any permissions needed to use, record, teach from, or share third-party music and recordings. These terms do not grant rights in someone else's material.

Keep independent backups. Recording, file processing, and playback depend on your browser and device. Page refreshes, device interruptions, or errors may cause work to be lost. See the Privacy Policy for how information is handled.

Educational tools and safe use

The tools and explanations are educational aids, not a guarantee of tuning precision, musical correctness in every context, compatibility, or a particular learning outcome. CAGED regions are reference maps, not prescribed fingerings. Verify results where accuracy matters. Begin playback at a low volume and use safe listening levels; take breaks and stop if playing or listening causes discomfort.

No warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the site and tools are provided "as is" and "as available," without express or implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. We do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free service, accuracy, security, availability, or freedom from harmful components. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions; those exclusions apply only where lawful.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the site operator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages, or loss of data, recordings, profits, business, or goodwill arising from use of or inability to use the site, even if advised of the possibility. To the extent legally enforceable, the operator's total aggregate liability for claims arising from the site or these terms will not exceed US $100.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability for fraud, intentional misconduct, gross negligence, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. Mandatory consumer protections and nonwaivable remedies remain unaffected.

Availability, misuse, and rights complaints

We may change or discontinue tools and may restrict access for misuse, subject to applicable law. Permission to use protected materials may be withdrawn for a material breach, to the extent permitted by law; previously lawful uses and independent statutory rights are not retroactively removed.

If you believe material on the site infringes your rights, email info@fretwolf.com with the relevant page, identification of the work and claimed rights, the basis of your complaint, and contact information so we can investigate. This contact is not a representation that a statutory copyright agent has been registered.

Applicable law and interpretation

To the extent these terms form an enforceable agreement, they are governed by Florida law and applicable United States federal law, without applying conflict-of-law rules, except where mandatory law requires otherwise. No provision removes protections or jurisdictional rights that cannot be waived under the law applicable to you. These terms do not require arbitration or waive class-action rights.

If a provision is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to the extent permitted by law. A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. These terms do not replace the independent copyright and trademark rights of their respective owners.

Changes and permission requests

We may publish revised terms with an updated effective date. Changes do not retroactively authorize or prohibit past conduct or replace any legally required notice or consent. For licensing requests or questions, contact info@fretwolf.com.
